Background
Dr. Mendez joined Chesapeake Urology in August 2019. She received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her residency in urologic surgery at Duke University Hospital before completing her fellowship in male infertility and microsurgery. Her attention to detail, patience, and skill provides the perfect combination for the delicate and technically challenging work of vasectomy reversal microsurgery. She is also fellowship trained in sexual dysfunction, genital reconstructive surgery, and andrology.
In 2005, Dr. Mendez received a Fulbright Grant and trained in China, studying traditional Chinese medicine. Prior to starting her medical training, Dr. Mendez worked at the Center for Biologics Research and Evaluation and at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Dr. Mendez has published numerous articles, book chapters, and given presentations across the nation at conferences and she was awarded the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction Traveling Fellowship Award from the American Urologic Association. Dr. Mendez is a member of the Society and Study of Male Reproduction, Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons, Society of Sexual Medicine North America, American Urological Association, and the Society of Women in Urology.
